DESCRIPTION:

Some cities are best seen in person to be believed. You know those postcards of Pisa and Florence that you’ve always seen? Well, they are even better in reality. Spending the day checking out the beautiful, picturesque cities of Florence and Pisa once you arrive at the coastal city of Livorno, is bound to produce some degree of amazement.

For this private, full day tour which takes about 9hrs 30mins, our driver will come pick you up from the Livorno dock in a private air conditioned sedan or Mercedes limo minivan to see Pisa’s Miracle Square, experience Pisa’s Leaning Tower and explore the charming city of Florence.

Explore Historic Pisa

Upon picking you up from the Livorno dock, our driver who may also double as your guide will take you on a 30 minute drive to the city of Pisa. Pisa is one of the most popular Tuscan cities in the world and is almost, if not just as popular as the Coliseum.

The origins of the city isn’t known as various groups have been suggested as the city’s founders –Ligurians, Etruscans, Greeks and the Pelasgi. Interestingly, a 1991 excavation of the Arena Garibaldi exposed an Etruscan necropolis (so maybe they founded the city?).

ne thing is clear, the city was very well exposed to incredible building technology as evidenced from the majestic architecture visible around the city.

Your first stop will be at the designated parking area from where you’ll proceed to the Field of Miracles where you can take lots of photos. Walking to and from the parking area is about 15-20 minutes each way. While in Pisa, you’ll get to see its most famous attractions like the Leaning Tower of Pisa (Torre Pendente de Pisa), the DUOMO CATHEDRAL, CAMPO SANTO, THE unusually round BAPTISTERY, and PIAZZA DEI CAVALIERI. Interested visitors who have already pre-booked, will have the opportunity to make the 30 minute climb to the top of the tower (note: some people find being in the tower a bit unsettling).

Experience Florence, the Cradle of Renaissance

After this, the driver and guide will then take you to Florence. The 1hr 20mins drive involves seeing the rolling and picturesque Tuscan countryside. Your guide will stop at the most breathtaking spot for 10 minutes where you can take truly stunning pictures or just take in the sheer beauty of mother nature.

Your first stop at Florence will be the Michelangelo square which provides truly amazing views of the city. Make sure your phones and cameras are fully charged as you would want to shoot videos and take pictures here. After this, the guide will drive you downtown to the historical parts of Florence, whilst providing commentary about each place.

When you get there, you can go explore the area individually or in groups. Highlights of this area include by checking out the Brunellesci Dome, the San Lorenzo Market (one of the world’s most popular leather market), Santa Croce Square (you’ll find the gothic basilica where Machiavelli, Galileo and Michelangelo are buried alongside other Italian monarchs), Pizza Della Signoria, Palazzo Dei Pitti, Ponte Vecchio and the Accademia Museum. Please note that the Accademia Museum is often closed on Mondays, so you might wanto to schedule your trip for another day on the week if this is a must-do tour.

There’s a wide array of museums, churches and exquisite restaurants to check out and eat in if you like (cost of lunch is not included in tour price). Explore the city’s hidden gems, walking the alleyways and taking in the rich history of Florence.

You’ll have until 3.45pm to explore the city. Guests are expected back at the convergence point by 3.45pm. Once everyone is back, the driver will then take you back to the Livorno dock.
