Description
You’ll have an English speaking chauffeur and guide who will come pick you up at the port of La Spezia. From here, he’ll take you on an hour long drive to Pisa through the scenic route that includes Arno River and the University where Galileo studied.
Your first stop will be at the Miracles Square from where you would be able to see Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Duomo, and the Baptistery (Battistero). If you’ve already booked to climb the tower, you can go ahead to climb. When you’re done, you can still spend a few minutes shopping.
After which, you’ll return to the vehicle from where you will be conveyed through the Tuscan countryside to Florence, the “Cradle of Renaissance”. During the walking tour in Florence, you’ll get to explore the medieval town and visit the Accademia Museum (booking should be done earlier so that you won’t have to join the usually long queue) where you will find the original David by Micheangelo.
You’ll also be able to explore the Piazza del Duomo, with its slew of medieval architecture and art, see Brunelleschi’s Duomo, the Giotto's Bell Tower and the popular bronze gated Baptistery. The gates symbolize both the old and new testament is nicknamed the “Gates of Paradise”.
You’ll also visit the Piazza della Repubblica, which is where you’ll find lots of historical literary cafés where some of the best minds of the medieval era sat and discussed salient, topical issues of the day and future.
You can see the Piazza Signoria (Palazzo Vecchio, Uffizi, and so on), and then on to the Santa Croce church in Piazza Santa Croce where Michealangelo was buried among many other Italian royals. After this, you will then proceed to the Ponte Vecchio (the old charming bridge) with its many fine jewelry shops where you can buy some gold and other jewelry.
For those who are hungry, you can get some great Tuscan meals –we recommend the pasta- at the “trattoria” or purchase some fine Italian leather –you’ll find loads of shops to get some souvenirs from. Individuals looking to purchase designer items can visit the largest concentration of designer outlets on Via De' Tornabuoni. Here, you’ll find everything from Cartier to Tiffany.
After this, you’ll then convene at the drop-off point, from where your driver will then take you back to the port of La Spezia.
